pdfAnimal Control Dispatcher

Regular Full-Time (40 hrs), Non-Exempt, Hourly

Larimer Humane Society is seeking qualified applicants for a full-time Dispatcher for our Animal Protection and Control team.  Dispatchers at Larimer Humane Society are responsible for answering and responding to citizens’ calls for Animal Protection and Control assistance and for dispatching Officers.   Priorities include responding to citizens’ calls regarding animal rescue, public safety, the enforcement of animal ordinances and more.  Dispatchers also oversee Officers locations and monitor Officer safety while in the field.  Incumbents maintain confidential and sensitive information relating to clients, the Organization and the Department.  Work involves assisting clients with interpretation and understanding of animal ordinances, Department procedure and responsible animal ownership.  Maintains accurate logs, reports and statistics of daily activities.  Represents the Organization and contracted jurisdictions in a professional and courteous manner at all times.  Must learn a wide range of policies, procedures and processes quickly and accurately.  Dispatchers also perform the duties of a Field Officer on an as-needed basis and follow all safety protocols.  Proven clerical and math skills required as are solid computer skills.  Knowledge of Chameleon software helpful.   Previous dispatch experience preferred.  The work schedule is generally 4x10 or 5x8, subject to business need, and includes one weekend day.  A minimum of one compensated on-call overnight shift per quarter is required as are holiday shifts.  Applicants must be able to work a flexible schedule including evenings and holidays as assigned.  Living arrangements within 30 miles of the Shelter due to overnight shifts.  Please include days and hours of work availability, start date availability and salary requirements in cover letter.

Animal Protection and Control Sergeant

Regular Full-Time (40 hrs), Non-Exempt, Hourly

Larimer Humane Society is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Sergeant (Supervisor) for our Animal Protection and Control (APC) team.  Our APC Sergeants serve as lead Animal Control Officers by enforcing State, County and City codes and ordinances governing animal control functions (e.g., field enforcement, licensing, animals at large, bit investigations an more).  This position is a working supervisor position and includes Officer and Dispatcher duties in addition to supervisory duties.   Supervisory duties include directing, training, coaching and assisting with hiring and evaluating employees.  Job includes writing and/or updating procedures, compiling statistics, and exercising discretion and good judgment when dealing with confidential and sensitive information.  Minimum 2 years of animal control enforcement or comparable experience.  Excellent computer skills and experience with Microsoft products including Word and Excel.  Minimum 1-year direct supervisory experience or 3 years of proven progressive, and applicable, leadership experience required.  Knowledge of Colorado State law and Larimer County, Fort Collins and Loveland ordinances.  Peer or staff training professional experience required.  Dispatch experience preferred.  CAACO certification preferred or ability to achieve certification after 1 year of employment required.  Ability to obtain euthanasia certification and perform euthanasia within six (6) months of employment.  Must meet requirements to be eligible for, and to maintain, a position as an Animal Protection and Control Officer with Larimer Humane Society.  Able to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends and holidays as required.  Living arrangements within 30 miles of Shelter preferred due to on-call duties.  Relocation assistance is not available for this position.  Please include days and hours of work availability and salary requirements in cover letter.

pdfClient Services Representative, Animal Shelter
One regular full-time (40 hrs) and one part-time, Non-Exempt, Hourly

Larimer Humane Society is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Client Services Representative (CSR).  Our CSRs represent the Organization in a professional and courteous manner and provide quality service at the Shelter’s front desk.  The job requires great customer service skills, both in person and over the phone.  Must be able to quickly learn and accurately use specialized software as well as learn and apply a wide range of policies and procedure.  Work includes processing animal adoptions, animal returns to owners and animal surrenders as well as physical animal handling and other duties.  The job includes both sedentary work when processing client information and physical work when handling animals.  Work shifts vary and generally include at least on weekend day.  Please include days and times of work availability, as well as start date availability, in cover letter.

pdfMaintenance and Facility Specialist 
Regular Full-Time (40 hrs), Nonexempt, Hourly 

Larimer Humane Society is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Maintenance and Facility Specialist. This position assists the Director of Operations in ensuring proper operation and/or maintenance of the Shelter’s building(s), equipment, systems and grounds (facilities). Handles routine requests with vendors and contractors including janitorial, electrical, landscaping, security and property management. Personally performs designated maintenance tasks and coordinates facility safety and other building processes. Requirements include an Associate’s degree in an applicable field of study or professional work equivalent. Applicable technical certifications a plus. A minimum of one-year experience in an applicable role in a comparable commercial building. Project management experience required as is experience providing oversight and/or supervision of contracted or volunteer workers. Knowledge of radiant floor heating systems and light commercial cooling systems a plus. Hands-on, basic building maintenance and repair experience required. Experience with any of the following a plus: electronic control panels for security, lighting, HVAC and/or electrical. Experience responding to maintenance requests using a ticket system a plus. Knowledge of basic carpentry, painting, plumbing, HVAC, lighting and electrical and mechanical theories. Knowledge of safety requirements and programs. Excellent communication and proven computer skills, including solid Excel skills, is required as is the ability to read, interpret and work with schematics, blueprints and sketches. The position schedule is 40 hours per week, generally Monday through Friday, with occasional weekend and evening hours as required. Part-Time (20 – 25 hrs), Non-Exempt, Hourly

Larimer Humane Society is seeking qualified applicants for a part time Veterinary Technician.  Our Veterinary Technicians provide clinical and administrative support for the Shelter's Veterinary Services department.  Major responsibilities include assisting with the surgical program including induction and intubation of surgery patients; maintaining accurate records; performing basic animal assessment and triage; administering treatment and medications as needed; performing dental cleanings and more.  The position requires a minimum of 1 to 2 years of previous work experience in a veterinary clinic and/or animal shelter clinic.  Surgical assistance and proficiency with intubation, IV catheter placement and IV injection techniques is also required.  This is a part time position with PTO (paid time off) accrual benefits.  The schedule is predominately weekday mornings with one weekend shift, and some holiday hours, required.  Please include days and hours of availability and salary requirements in cover letter.

Hiring range for certified Veterinary Technicians begins at $12.25 per hour and at $11.10 for non-certified technicians.  Rates may be negotiable commensurate with experience.
